Technique used to identify genes expressed differentially between two
tissue samples. A large excess of
mRNA from one sample is hybridized to
cDNA from the other, and the double stranded hybrids removed by physical means. Remaining cDNAs are those not represented as
RNA in the first sample, and thus presumably expressed uniquely in the second. To improve specificity, the process is often repeated several times. See also
